Zone 6 issues alert for two more vehicles

1/17/2014

Today, there were two vehicles attempting to burglarize locations in Kirkwood.  Be sure to provide as much as detail as possible to 911 and the EASP (404-954-1568) if you see these vehicles.  Tag information and direction of vehicles are especially helpful.

First vehicle is a Blue SUV
Second vehicle is a white KIA with tag BTS 8000

seems like something more could be done by apd to crack down on stolen cars... as this is a common thread with so many burglaries these days. ideas: tag scanning stations (like the equipment on the back of some cruisers), publishing known stolen car plates so we can report them, using manufacturer technologies (ie onstar) to track/disable vehicles

We have posed the question of getting a list of stolen vehicles from both APD and Dekalb. No response has been offered, but it can be posed again. The question is how wide an area do you monitor and who keeps up with vehicles as they get added to the list or are recovered. Agree that some sort of unmanned scanning of tags would be a good idea and can pursue this further. APD may be doing some form of this, although I don't think it's with unmanned vehicles. As for OnStar, this is used when possible. That's not under the total control of the police, since we must purchase those technologies on our own.
