Update on Vehicles of Interest

2/20/2014

As a follow-up to a pair of BOLOs, APD has informed the EASP that the White Chevy Tahoe has been located and that an arrest was made.  Thus far they're keeping any more details quiet, so not much more to say other than hoping that this leads to more arrests.  In the recent past, locating of individual vehicles along with an arrest or two hasn't seemed to have much effect on slowing down the volume of burglaries.  Our East Lake and Oakhurst neighbors hope that's not the case this time.

As for the black Chrysler sedan, multiple reports came in yesterday from both citizens and the EASP officer of what appears to be the vehicle that was sought.  The car that may be associated with Monday night's break-in on Glenwood and Sunday afternoon's break-in on Stokeswood is a black Chrysler 200 with a Florida tag of 020 LBD.  The information was passed on to APD and they are investigating.  The EASP believes there is a strong chance this vehicle has been used to commit one or more crimes.  It is a rental, not known to be stolen, so perhaps it's being used as a way to avoid being stopped by the police.  Everyone can draw their own conclusions.  If you see the vehicle on your street, please continue to call it in to 911 and the EASP.  You should contact Dekalb 360 or the Trolley Patrol as well if you see it in those areas.  The sightings thus far were on Oakfield and Edgemore in unincorporated Dekalb County,  If you have any additional knowledge or information about this vehicle, please call the EASP at 404-954-1568.

Is there any more detail on the Stokeswood break-in? This is the first time I hear about a Sunday break-in.

And more generally, where can we find the list of weekly crimes that EASP used to post on its website?

Thank you.

Here is the recap of the burglary from the 16th, which occurred around 4 pm. As for the crime reports, APD did not provide detailed reports for about two months. They have resumed, but our crime person has not been available to perform the updates. We hope to begin posting them again soon. The crime has diminished quite a bit since we've increased evening patrols, so we do want to get the word out about that. Unfortunately the two home invasions in the past couple weeks give the perception that crime is increasing. To be fair, one home invasion is worse than any number of burglaries, so it's critical to solve this problem ASAP.

My home was broken into yesterday afternoon (874 Stokeswood Ave). My neighbors saw three teenage black males jumping my privacy fence and breaking into my back door and called the police before my alarm even went off. Thank goodness for amazing neighbors! Even though they only ran in and out quickly the neighbor reported, they still managed to make off with a lot of electronics/jewelry/etc. The police did come very quickly, within 10 minutes or so. They got to my house before I even made it back after my alarm company called me because I was on the other side of town. Luckily there wasn't much damage to my house, they just forced in the doors, and they didn't hurt my dog. But still, the damage is done and I no longer feel safe in my house. Please keep an eye out for these teenagers. They were driving a black sedan. Pulled into my driveway even! They are clearly watching our homes, because both of my neighbors left a few minutes before me, then I left, and 20 minutes later, they were breaking in. Do all you can to secure your doors, get an alarm, security doors, motion lights/detectors/cameras, etc. These kids are terrorizing our neighborhood. Keep an eye out all the time for any signs of suspicion and report everything so that the cops can catch these guys. Possible car involved in crime driven around by three teenagers- black sedan with tag AUQ 5464
