News Update for July 10th

7/10/2014

A homeowner in the 700 block of Pasley had all three of their vehicles broken into between 11 pm last night and 8:30 am this morning.  The initial feedback we received is that they were all locked with alarms.  There was no visible damage to the vehicles based on a neighbor's initial assesment,  APD was out and took prints.  There is an alert from APD about how these vehicles are being accessed, and we'll post it as soon as we receive it.  The homeowner is looking for a black bag/small luggage bag on wheels with an extended handle that was taken from one of the cars.  It has silver trim and a decorative silver chain handle around the side.  It contained a laptop and many work papers, including a WYSE notebook.  Give us a call at 404-954-1568 if you see this bag, as the owner would like to get it back.

The other day it was suggested that you keep your vehicle free of all items, particularly when at home.  Make your best effort to do this.  Among items you may not think to keep out of your vehicles are spare keys, garage door openers, car registration or title, guns, and work papers or sales items.

We are strongly considering some extra patrols for the early morning hours, probably 1 -5 am.  We have an officer willing to work and are looking at the patterns of car break-ins and car theft.   It's likely that we'll patrol durng those hours for at least a couple weeks or until the problems  to improve.

There was also shots fired in the 1600 block of May Avenue last night around 6 pm.  The target was a resident on that block, who claimed he was followed home after a road rage incident.  An officer at the scene told the EASP that he didn't believe his story.  We will have extra patrols in that block, but call 911 and then the EASP if you see any further suspicious activity in the vicinity of 1683 May Avenue.
