Today is the final day for both renewals and new memberships for the July - September quarter. We have kept this quarter open longer than usual in order for everyone traveling during the summer to have plenty of time to make their payment. If you can't pay today, it's perfectly fine to inform us that payment is on the way. As we do each quarter, we review paid memberships and plan patrol time largely based on the volume of members on each street.
Those areas and streets with the most members get the largest share of patrol hours.
Keep in mind that memberships are our primary source of revenue. While we did have a major contribution in late 2013 and early 2014 from the Village Church of East Atlanta, that money was used mainly for extra patrols in the East Atlanta Village.
We have posted crime statistics for the week ending July 12th on our website. Burglaries and pedestrian robberies continue to be at low levels in East Atlanta, although there was a carjacking at Long John Silver's last week. In Zone 6, pedestrian robberies are down almost 40% this year, and credit should be directed to Major Peek for increased patrols in commercial areas such as the East Atlanta Village.
