Please be on the lookout for a 2013 grey Honda CRV with tag PVI8323. It was stolen in a burglary in East Lake after 10:00 this morning. There was also a burglary in the Olmsted subdivision off Glenwood after 9:00 pm last night. The vehicle used in that burglary was reported as a white sedan. Yesterday was the first day for Olmsted to be part of the city of Atlanta, as it's annexation was effective April 1st.
On Friday morning the EASP officer on duty was flagged down by a pedestrian, and was able to arrest a man for breaking into a car at Village Fitness. The situation that has generated a lot of calls this week has been people trying to sell alarm upgrades under false pretenses. Do not let anyone into your home that you are not expecting, and be sure that the person at the door is actually the person you are expecting. A woman on Shadowridge was murdered last year, and police reports we were given indicated that she was expecting a repair person, which may have been why she invited him into her home.
Dekalb police also had a very busy night last night in our area, including two women trying to commit an armed robbery against a man at Eastland and Bouldercrest. It appeared to be a Craig's List transaction that was not on the up and up. Do remember to always make these types of transactions in a safe place, preferably your local police precinct.
Tomorrow we'll have the detailed crime reports for East Atlanta posted for incidents through March 19th. East Atlanta has been the lowest crime beat in Zone 6 for the past two months, with 23 total crimes, so let's stay vigilant and keep reporting suspicious activity. If you still wish to join the EASP, the enrollment deadline has been extended through Sunday April 3rd. The April to June period normally has much more crime than January to March, so your membership will help us put our officers on the street for more hours in the weeks to come.
