The latest crime reports have been posted for the week ending November 15th. While there were a couple burglaries in the Clifton/Braeburn area, it has been relatively quiet since, as increased patrols by Atlanta and Dekalb police, as well as the EASP and Dekalb 360 are geared toward preventing this from becoming an ongoing issue. Neighbors are doing their part too by calling in suspicious activity. Crime is up considerable in many surrounding areas of Zone 6, which is why we all need to report crimes and suspicious activity as soon as possible. You do not need to be a member to call the EASP, so contact us at 404-954-1568 whenever you're a victim of a crime or something appears suspicious on your street, your jogging route or anywhere you're located in East Atlanta.
Mail theft is often high at this time of year. Under no circumstances should you leave outgoing mail in your box for the carrier, as this is an invitation to theft. If you are out of town, make sure a neighbor picks up your incoming mail or have it held at the Post Office.
As the weather gets colder, be sure to resist the temptation to leave your vehicle running outside unless you're in it. A vehicle was stolen on Newton this past week, and this is a very common occurrence in the winter, especially at gas stations, schools, and other places where someone only needs to run inside for a minute or two.
Don't forget to send in your out of town requests for the upcoming week. This is a members-only service. However, we are offering the month of December for free to new members, so this is a good time to join and get some extra patrols while you're traveling for the holidays.
