There was also a carjacking reported this morning around 3:00 am. While the address listed by APD was on Piper Circle, the 911 call appears to have originated from Bouldercrest near Piper Circle. An official police report should be posted here on Monday. There have also been a couple of burglaries near Flat Shoals and Bouldercrest in the past few days, so keep a close eye out if you live in that vicinity.
EASP call volumes are up considerably in the past couple days, both from residents and our police sources, which is usually a good clue to call in all remotely suspicious activity to 911 and the EASP at 404-954-1568. Often it's the second or third call that helps identify a crime pattern or a good description on a suspicious vehicle, so call the EASP as quickly as possible after you speak with 911. While the EASP normally focuses on burglaries at this time of year, many criminals are trying to obtain vehicles to use in these burglaries, or may wish to have extra cash from a robbery in order to purchase Christmas gifts. Walking at night can put you at higher risk at this time of year, so be sure to be very aware of your surroundings when you're on foot.
