A resident of the 1300 block of Ormewood Avenue is reporting their 2015 dark grey Subaru Outback was stolen this morning. The tag is PQN4050. Please be alert as a vehicle of this type is generally used to commit further crimes.
Yesterday, a burglary was committed around 7 am in the 1500 block of Braeburn Drive. The backdoor was kicked in to gain entry. This continues to be the entry point on nearly all burglaries in that area, so be sure to increase security measures on rear doors and windows if you don't want to be victimized. The same four perpetrators had been knocking on doors over on Nash and Braeburn Circle around 6:15 yesterday morning, so we should not assume that they are only targeting a few streets. One of the burglars was arrested, but being only 13 years old, will not put too much of a dent in their operation unless he gives up names of his buddies. The EASP has been heavily patrolling this area, so they may be changing tactics and trying to strike during hours where people are more likely to be at home. If someone comes to your door at any hour, make certain they know you are home and then call 911 and the EASP at 404-954-1568. Just a reminder for some of our newer residents, if you find that 911 calls from your cellphone are being routed to Dekalb 911, call 404-658-6666 to connect directly to the Atlanta 911 call center. Landlines should already direct you to Atlanta 911 if you live inside the city limits.
Thanks to everyone this past week or so who has been calling in suspicious activity, Call and text volumes are up considerably, and our officers appreciate your engagement. There was even a case this week where a resident texted the EASP about a suspicious vehicle while they were at home on a conference call. While we always recommend calling 911 first, this was a case where it was better to text than do nothing. Within 2-3 minutes of receiving the text, the EASP officer had located and stopped the vehicle.
