APD reported yesterday that two men were arrested by Dekalb Police on Wednesday.  In addition to catching them while committing a burglary, they had stolen property from two burglaries committed earlier in the day in Zone 6. And the white Jeep Cherokee they were driving had been stolen from Cecile using spare keys taken in a burglary from the home last week.

Thanks to the APD burglary unit for getting this information out to us so fast.  This has happened several times in the past year that we've been able to quickly share information with the Dekalb 360 Security Patrol that later led to an arrest.  In some cases, the arrests were made while the officers were working for the patrol, but in other cases like this one they were on their regular police duty and used information they received to assist in making an arrest.  A lot of the burglars in East Atlanta are coming from unincorporated Dekalb County, and many of our stolen vehicles are being located by Dekalb Police.  Continuing to expand this partnership between neighboring security patrols is intended to bring many of these crime sprees to a quick end.

This is just another reason why we do ask that you call us to report all crimes and suspicious activity after calling 911.  This information is circulated to officers who aren't even working for the EASP that day, but may be on-duty at that time or even later in the day or the next day.  And in some cases the information is circulated to other patrols and their officers.
