East Atlanta had its first residential burglary of November today around 11:40 a.m, at 1548 Van Vleck. The backdoor was kicked in to gain entry to the house. This is an unfortunate reminder that there is an increased risk of burglaries from now through the end of the year. Some years it isn't noticeable, but the continued high level of crime in all of the surrounding areas has the EASP concerned that this may be one of our high burglary years. Be sure to report all suspicious activity, day or night to 911 followed by the EASP at 404-954-1568.
To help combat the burglary problem, new membership is open through the end of this week. After November 29th, any new memberships will not begin until January 1st. Please consider joining this week so that we can put additional patrols in place for the next few weeks. More members means more patrols for your home and street. And extra patrols when you inform us that you'll be out of town. The EASP allocates patrol time based on where members are located, so more members on a given street means more patrol time for that street. As an added incentive, anyone joining the EASP this week will have their membership effective immediately but we won't start the official clock until January 1st. In effect, the rest of the year is free.
