Report all suspicious activity to 911 and the EASP. Almost every call this week to the EASP has NOT been preceded by a call to 911. A suspicious person should be a call to 911. A person ringing your doorbell at 3:30 am or any person on your property without your authorization should be a call to 911. An occupied vehicle parked in front of your neighbor's house for ten minutes is suspicious. It's way better to call and discover that the person or situation is harmless than to allow a crime to occur.
And like the prior warning, don't assume that a Security Door or Strikemaster is sufficient. Many crimes occur through windows, so these need pins, security film or other protective measures. If you have an alarm, make sure all of your windows have working sensors. In one of this week's burglaries, the alarm did not go off until the burglars left through the front door, because entry through the window where the break-in occurred did not trigger the alarm. While alarms don't prevent all burglaries, they vastly reduce the amount of time that burglars have to search and destroy your home.
