Burglaries continue to be a persistent problem in East Atlanta. While many of you are calling in suspicious activity, most are not calling 911 prior to calling the EASP. It is critical to do both, but please 911 first. It doesn't need to be a break-in to call 911. We are receiving calls of suspicious people sitting in vehicles on the street, or circling the block three and four times. Those must go to 911 without delay. Follow that with a call to the EASP. Our officers are not on duty 24X7, so the police should always be your first call. However, don't just call 911 and assume the EASP officer will respond when the call is dispatched. Many calls are not dispatched quickly, so if our officer is on duty, he may respond more quickly than going through 911. It also helps the EASP to receive these calls so that we can pass them on to EASP officers on upcoming shifts.
