Major Peek released an official statement to confirm what the EASP had already heard. It is our understanding that the man arrested is the one in the photo that was also posted to Crime Stoppers. The investigation is likely continuing while they try to track down his accomplices. Based on what we've heard, APD probably knows the identity of the others involved. Since he was arrested last night, we would not be surprised to see the others arrested in the very near future.
Thanks to all community members who provided information to APD that helped make this arrest possible. It is unusual to have this many robberies already this year, and hopefully we'll see a return to more normal levels of this type of crime. The EASP will continue to pursue all avenues possible to make pedestrian robberies less likely going forward, using the best ideas from our community to make that happen.

Recently, we have experienced a rash of armed pedestrian robberies in the East Atlanta Village area. We have diligently worked to deter this criminal activity as well as trying to identify the persons responsible for committing the crimes. It is with great joy that we announce that the Atlanta Police Department has arrested an individual that has been linked to several of the armed pedestrian robberies. Because this is an ongoing investigation, pertinent information will be withheld until we process all current evidence but we look forward to sharing more information in the very near future. Again, this is great news but we still ask that you remain vigilant and call 911 when you see suspicious activity. We look forward to our continued partnership with our community.
